Easy Ear Piercing Tips
Jan 14th 2012, 03:41

Ear piercing can be done by yourself easily with a relatively little amount of pain involved. For the purpose of this task, you will need to prepare a safety pin, ice and a pair of earrings. Now all you need to do is to keep reading this article for easy ear piercing tips before you gather all the items mentioned and head straight to the bathroom to get on with the ear piercing business. First step is to make sure that you have gathered the supplies needed which include a large safety pin, ice and suitable earrings that you want to put on after you have taken out the safety pin. A set of piercing earrings are the best option to use as they are slightly thicker in diameter. As your pierced ears heal, the size of hole that is left from the use of a piercing earring will ensure that you will be able to put on a new earring easily. The next important step is to ice the ear that you want to pierce until it gets really numb. This usually takes around one minute. Sterilize the safety pin by burning it in the flame of a candle and swipe it with alcohol soaked towel. Pierce the part of your ear that you want using the sterilized safety pin. Once it is in, just leave it for about ten minutes before you start to remove it. During the removal or the safety pin process, try to be gentle yet firm. Do not rush this process. When the pin is out, you can now put on the piercing earring on your newly pierced ear carefully. To prevent unnecessary infection, make sure to use alcohol to clean your pierced ears every night. Keep in mind that you must not take out your earrings for about four to six weeks to allow for the complete healing process to take place.

Shakespeare’s Quotes & Symbols – Building Beautiful Imagery
Jan 14th 2012, 04:16

Imagery in Merchant of Venice I read ‘Merchant of Venice’ when I was around twelve years old. And it has been my favorite Shakespearean play since then. Firstly because it was this play which introduced me to the romantic world of Shakespearean comedy. And secondly, because I find Merchant of Venice, a simple play with subtle complex ideas. The Plot A young man Bassanio is in love with a wealthy heiress, Portia. To pursue his dream of marrying Portia, Bassanio borrows money from a Jew moneylender Shylock. Bassanio’s friend Antonio, who is a merchant in Venice and is hated by Shylock, becomes a guarantor in the bond. The ‘merry bond’ signed between the two parties calls for a pound of Antonio’s flesh in return if Bassanio fails to pay back the loan. The Three Caskets The three caskets in Merchant of Venice have amazed, fascinated and even bothered readers ever since. Different meanings have been attached to them. Some feel that they are part of religious teachings. Some belief the concept roots from an Estonian epic. Some highlight Shakespeare’s use of ‘three’ things in many of his plays. And so on. But the one thing that’s certain is these three caskets give to the readers, a beautiful and alluring imagery. Portia’s late father believed marriage to be an institution where one is supposed to give ones everything to ones spouse. To find a suitor with similar values for Portia, he devised a contest. Choice of three caskets is inflicted upon the suitors. Each casket is made from a different metal – gold, silver and lead. Each casket also bears an inscription, Gold- ‘who chooseth me shall gain what men desire’ Silver- ‘who chooseth me get as much as he deserves’ Lead- ‘who chooseth me must give and hazard all he hath’ Suitors from various countries choose one among them. Prince of Morocco chooses the golden one. He loses Portia’s hand and is told ‘All that glisters is not gold, often have you heard that told.’ The next prince chooses silver, and returns as well, empty handed. Surprisingly, Bassanio chooses the lead casket. Inside he finds a scroll written on it, ‘You that choose not by the view, Chance as fair and choose as true! Since this fortune falls to you, Be content and seek no new. If you be well pleased with this, And hold your fortune for your bliss, Turn you where your lady is And claim her with a loving kiss.’ The Meaning Choosing a lead casket and getting a lady’s hand seems peculiar. But Shakespeare had his reasons. There are many explanations given to the image. One is that desire should always be resisted. Desire will be to choose gold and hence get ‘what men desire.’ But this should be abstained from. Other thing the caskets suggest is that appearances can be deceiving, i.e. ‘all that glitters isn’t gold.’ The essence of the inscription on the lead casket (‘must give and hazard all he hath’) is that any relationship calls for absolute faith. Faith for which a person is ready to risk and sacrifice all that he has. In The End Many scholars have attributed different implications of the three caskets. Like Sigmund Freud believed that three caskets implied three women with certain qualities; and ‘a suitor choosing among three caskets’ a case ‘a man’s choice between three women.’

What Foods Help Cure Acne – Best Foods To Stop Acne
Jan 14th 2012, 04:22

Acne can be a problem for people of all ages. Commonly associated with teenagers, acne actually occurs for many of us long after our teenage years are but a memory. There are millions of products and remedies out there that claim to cure acne, but did you know that clearing up your acne can be as simple as changing your dietary habits? In this article we will take a look at exactly what foods help cure acne and how. We all know by now that a number of foods can make acne worse. Foods high in oils, such as fast food, and foods high in preservatives are well known to be triggers for acne outbreaks. Did you know that there are foods that can do the opposite as well? Take zinc rich foods, for example. Foods such as red meat, beans, nuts, and poultry are all high in zinc, a well known acne fighter. In addition to boosting your immune system, zinc helps rid your body of toxins and promotes proper digestion, both of which can serve to reduce those dreaded acne outbreaks. Foods rich in vitamins A and E are also great acne fighters. The same vitamins that are in many topical acne products, A and E provide many benefits to the skin when ingested, partly due to their properties as antioxidants. These vitamins actually work better when eaten than when applied to the skin, as acne is a problem best treated from the inside out. It is one thing to apply a cream to get rid of acne that you currently have, but it is quite another to change your food intake to keep it from occurring in the first place. Prevention is always better than treatment. Vitamins A and E can be found in a variety of foods, such as dairy, sweet potatoes, and green leafy vegetables. They are also available as supplements, but like all nutrients, they are most effective in their natural form, which is in the foods you eat. Omega three, a vitamin commonly found in fish, especially tuna, is another known acne fighter. Omega three helps your skin build up its own immunity to acne and infections. Walnuts and beans are excellent sources of omega three as well, as is olive oil. To increase your body’s resistance to acne without giving up oils altogether, you can cook foods in olive oil rather than your regular oil so that you can eat the foods that you are used to and actually combat your acne at the same time. Finally, there is one remaining dietary change that is more effective than all of the others listed above, and it is something you have been hearing all your life. Drink more water. Research shows that if you can manage to drink ten glasses of water a day, every day, you will greatly reduce the amount and frequency of acne breakouts. It may sound like a lot of water, but staying hydrated provides hundreds of benefits to the human body, not the least of which is healthier, more acne free skin. In summary, the list of what foods help cure acne is a long one. Almost all fruits and vegetables are great for this as long as they are fresh or frozen, and not loaded with preservatives. Nuts, fish, red meat, and water are all on the list as well. It is rather easy to create a very diverse and tasty menu using the foods on this list, so that you aren’t faced with either having acne or eating the same food every day. By treating your body from the inside out, you can treat the root of the problem and not the result of it, giving you better results and a healthier body at the same time.

Selling Your Art – Part 2
Jan 14th 2012, 05:46

Some sellers, notably galleries and dealers, will conduct public relations to one degree or another for artists that they represent. A gallery may recommend a certain kind of exposure or publicity as part of the campaign to sell your art. Artists as individuals may seek and receive advice on how to present themselves to the public. This may include, for better or worse, adopting some of the prevailing conventions for dress, public appearances, rehearsed mini-speeches on various topics related to art, etc. I am reminded of various artists who will bring their pet dog to an opening, as Andy Warhol and others have done. Which provides a foil for direct attentiveness between artist and others. I have noticed these dogs are usually small and cute, and respond conveniently to attention or the lack thereof. Many artists affect some inscrutable, eccentric facade as an ambiguous defense. Interviewers, buyers, and sellers may purposefully ask provocative questions and the results of these questions and your answers may be good and bad, depending on the effects in various areas of your career or the public. As you work your way through these various situations you will find out which methods and activities are more to your liking. Hopefully, you can cultivate so many opportunities that you get the more pleasant task of choosing which opportunities you want to select or reject. Some artists have a steadily changing array of opportunities, other artists find a niche and stay within those boundaries. And there has to be some comfort level in the balance between creating and selling your art. When you ask yourself why you are making art one of the answers is probably that you want to sell it. And that you are comfortable generally with that position. Some artists, the particularly idealistic – or posing as the particularly idealistic – may say or act as though selling is beneath them. They may point to the nobility and idealism that they don’t want to sell. This artist might go on to explain that they were sought out by some infatuated collectors or galleries who pleaded with them so eloquently that they couldn’t refuse. Now as a result, this “idealistic” artist had allowed some of the better mortals to sell his/her works to one another, and they had set the prices, determined what must be said about the artist and art, made necessary arrangements, etc. This plays well mostly with the uneducated and naive. Asking this same artist for a freebie or discount might relegate you eternally to the “Twilight Zone.” There is no question that art can be nobly created for the best reasons or purest of impulses. But to suggest that nobility is rarely known in others, and seldom recognized by mortals is ridiculous and dumbly arrogant. But wherever there is an audience, there will finally appear the performer. Whatever compromises you find yourself making please avoid this one. Other help can be read at: Art Now

Beijing Boldness
An Honest Assessment of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games – Case Study
Jan 14th 2012, 06:21

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have now come to a close, and China had spent billions in infrastructure to see that it was a success. Their national honor had been tied to this event in their own eyes and the eyes of the rest of the world. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games were a showcase to the World and a statement that China has arrived. So, how did China do hosting the Olympics? Does it make sense to evaluate and assess their success, and to take a critical look at the challenges that plagued the 2008 Beijing Olympics? After all, without careful study, how can we improve future games and the world sports community? Did China reach its goal to show its strength and sense of Global Community? Prior to the Olympic Games China was challenged with the air pollution in Beijing, civil unrest in Tibet and the big Earthquake. China promised that they would have weather control devices preventing rain during the games, perhaps this promise was a little too optimistic, as it rained hard for 2 of the days and was quite drizzly for another 3 during the two-weeks. China also had apparently broken the rules by allowing a 15-year old gymnast to compete, who won a Gold Medal, this is still under review and it could embarrass China greatly if she is disqualified. There were also accusation on the judging in several sports that appeared to be questionable scores to Chinese athletes. There were also some bad calls by judges in boxing, volleyball and several other sports, of course, these issues happen in all Olympics. Still, it is a source of embarrassment for the next Super Power of the Planet. All-in-all the 2008 Beijing Olympic Summer Games were a huge success. China proved her sports prowess and the strength of character of their people. What a wonderful and gracious nation and host. You did good China and your friends in the United States are honored to have competed with you. Continued success.

Simplicity Strive Heartburn
Acid Reflux – What Causes It?
Jan 14th 2012, 07:11

Acid reflux is a common problem suffered by many people across the globe. It is also known as gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). It causes a lot of discomfort to the individual such as feeling of heartburn, difficulty to eat, headaches, pain in the abdomen, burning sensation in the esophagus etc. There are several causes for this condition to occur in the human body. Usually, this disease occurs when the liquid existing inside the stomach backs up inside the esophagus. This is a condition that tends to persist throughout the life of an individual. There are several other causes of heartburn. A) Causes a) Action of the LES The action of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter or LES may be one of the primary causes of the acid reflux. The esophagus is connected to the stomach. A muscle ring surrounds the bottom of the esophagus right at the point where it meets the stomach. Whenever one eats or drinks, the Lower Esophageal Sphincter lets the transfer of the food to the stomach. Thereafter, the muscle ring closes so that the food does not reflux. People having GERD have abnormal LES. It may show a weak contraction or to relaxed in order to facilitate reflux. b) Hiatus Hernia This can also be a major cause of acid reflux. However, this cannot be counted as a pre requisite. A hiatus hernia has the potential to disrupt the LES location. It is normally supposed to be in equilibrium with the diaphragm.. However, the hiatus hernia may push it up and this makes it lie in the chest. Since, the diaphragm is responsible in helping the LES to prevent reflux; this situation may create a severe problem. The reduced pressure makes hiatus hernia contribute to the reflux. c) Hernial Sac Acid reflux is commonly caused by a hiatus hernia due to the Hernial Sac. This sac is located near the esophagus. Acid gets trapped inside the sac. Since the sac is very closely located to the esophagus, it becomes easy to reflux when the LES relaxes. d) Pressure in the abdomen Excessive pressure at the level of the abdomen is a common physiological cause. The pressure tends to push stomach contents upwards inside the lining of the esophagus. Mostly pregnant women, obese and smokers suffer from this problem. e) Medication These are a common cause of acid reflux. Many synthetic drugs are capable of stimulating excessive production of gastric acid inside the stomach, thereby facilitating it to occur. Other medication may result in lower esophageal sphincter relaxation or reduction of the pressure at the esophageal level. f) Diet This is a major cause of acid heartburn. People consuming a lot of irritant or acidic foods contribute to the occurrence of acid reflux via facilitating overproduction of stomach acid and relaxation of esophageal valve. Indulging in certain bad eating habits can also result in the occurrence. g) Smoking and alcohol consumption Smoking and consuming alcohol can interfere with the normal muscular esophageal valve activity, thereby causing acid reflux to occur. Other causes a) Eating acidic foods b) Having asthma or diabetes c) Taking certain dietary supplements or antibiotics

Sometimes it may be done to make it easier for you to breathe. Patient may be given a sedative and a narcotic before he receives a local or general anesthetic. The anesthesia will keep patient from feeling pain during the operation. When you are asleep or your face is numb, your surgeon will reshape the cartilage and bone inside your nose. Most of the incisions are made inside your nose to limit noticeable scars. Some rhinoplasty is done with a small cut on the bottom of the nose. This cut is not usually noticeable after you heal.
