Is a Budget Vacation in Venice Italy Possible?
Jan 13th 2012, 03:08

The city of Venice, Italy is one of the most romantic and enchanting cities in the whole of Europe if not the World. Many films and books have focused their attention on this city for good reason. Many newlyweds come to this city to start their lives and to make sure that their romance gets off to a great start. However for many this city is far out of reach due to budget constraints. But this need not be the case for everyone. Saving money on a budget hotel should be the first order of business. There are many smaller hotels that do not offer the frills and luxuries that the larger hotels have to offer. However these hotels certainly have enough charm and ambience to make up for what ever luxury you may be used to at home. Sometimes I think people tend to forget that when they are on vacation that this is a great time to get off the beaten track and see what others do not. When looking for budget accommodations I would make sure that the hotel is family owned and operated as you will get far better service then if it is not. If you want to save money on food and drink in Venice then I would think like the locals. No self respecting Venetian would pay through the nose like the tourists. Rather they know the tricks on how to save money everyday. So the best guide then to saving money in Venice is from someone who lives there. Take advantage of the locals knowledge. Try to get out of them their favorite places to eat. Find out the best pizzeria in the neighborhood as that is perhaps one of the cheapest meals you can eat while in Italy. Never sit down for your meal though as that will surely add to the cost. If you carefully watch the locals you will see that many just eat standing up at the bar as they make their way around the city. Next it is important to save money on the sights of the city. For this I would be sure to take advantage of the various tourist passes that are offered all throughout the city. Not only will these passes get you into most of the popular museums but they may end up saving you money on transport as well. Many of these passes are connected to the local transport system in order to get the best deal for the many travelers who visit this city everyday. A budget vacation in Venice is possible if you can plan ahead and know the tricks of the city. The best way to do this is to befriend a local and rely on them. Find a great guidebook that is written by someone that has a deep understanding of the city.

Symbols of Anarchy
Jan 13th 2012, 03:43

There are many symbols of anarchism including cats that have been used over the years to identify and rally supporters for a cause. The cause is usually a protest or political movement against current conditions. With the increase in anti-globalization recently, the symbols of anarchy are starting to reappear. The black cat was designed by Ralph Chaplin, a prominent figure of the IWW, also known as the Wobblies. The movement started in 1905 and continued through the early 1920′s until it was suppressed by the Justice Department under J. Edgar Hoover. It signified wildcat strikes and radical unionism. The symbol has also been associated with witchcraft, bad omens and death. The black flag has been a symbol of anarchy since the 1880s. It symbolizes defiance and opposition to surrender. The flag has been used by groups opposed to representation. The black flag has also been used in many protests against oppression. It was used by pirates to indicate the lives of a crew would be spared if they surrendered. It was also used during the French and Russian Revolutions by certain protest groups. It is still used today by anarchical movements. The circled A, where the A stands for anarchy, is one of the best known present day symbols. It was developed by Giuseppe Fanelli, a Freemason, in 1868 and later adopted as a symbol of anarchy. The symbol became a part of the punk rock movement in the 1970′s. It was used by the band, Sex Pistols, to signify the punk rock style of music. Although used as a marketing ploy, it increased the awareness of anarchy. The black cross is a symbol representing a movement to eliminate all prisons. The symbol originated in Russia to support political prisoners. It was adopted by anarchists to signify unity of purpose. The cross was modified from the symbol for the Red Cross to avoid confusion with the Red Cross. It has been associated with black power, women’s lib, youth power and the American Indian Movement. Known as a symbol of piracy, the jolly roger or the skull and cross bones has gained popularity as a symbol of anarchy. Originally used by the Libertatain pirates, it signifies a pirate’s way of life free from repressive societies. It has gained popularity with many anarchical movements. The anarchist symbol, circled A, with a V represents the political philosophy of animal liberation. The philosophy also known as veganism excludes the use of animals for food, clothing or other uses. It was popularized in 1995 by Brian Dominick and is used by animal rights groups. People who actively support this movement are against killing any animal and have strict vegetarian diets. Other symbols of anarchy not shown above are the wooden shoe, black rose and bisected flags and stars. Each symbol has been used to represent a political movement or protest throughout the world. Depending on the cause, an organization will adapt or create a symbol that best represents it’s philosophy.

Top Of The Line Furniture – What the Very Best Designers Say
Jan 13th 2012, 04:50

The very popular three artists / furniture designers I have studied are all unique in their own, creative ways. Examining the life and spirit of anyone, you will find specific distinctions - especially in the life and work of artists. Nonetheless, we are all alike in our dissimilarities. Just as anyone else who loves his or her job is driven by the process of it (in this case, the process of discovery and design) the artist: any artist: will be unique in his or her similarities to other artists. Kendall LeCompte, Ivan McLean, and Jason Mclean are all creative furniture designers that use some of the same kinds of artistic processes. But between all artists, however diminutive, you will find that all are also somewhat dissimilar from any other. "To each his own way" as they say, is the basis for a lot of creative minds coming up with a lot of signature material, money, and sometimes even fame. Kendall LeCompte, Ivan McLean, and Jason Mclean all tap into a certain creative source for their ideas and in due process, their furniture designs. Kendall LeComp says that he "evolved from a sponge" and he bases this idea on the details in his life. More specifically, the fact that he takes in, like a sponge, the details all around him everywhere he goes. I believe that this (what is to some a seemingly useless fact) is true of many artists, however, and is in fact what often triggers the creative process. Kendall LeComp says that his experiences in Crete and Istanbul were strikingly inspirational to him, and doubtlessly set his creativity in motion. They remained with him formlessly. That is, until he went to work, and the, sights, sounds, and shapes of his experiences ended up "reappearing as a series of chairs" he says. Nonetheless, the furniture I am speaking of is not just the result of a designer with a photographic memory. The series of designer chairs he is speaking of are not the reflections of chairs he saw in the places he visited in 1999. Instead, what a furniture designer, as an artist, will do is attempt to recapture the essence of what was 'soaked in', so to speak at a time such as the trip to Crete and Istanbul of which Kendall LeComp spoke. If this is achieved, the artist's vision becomes a success. Given the allure of much of the home d

Can Whole Eggs Help As An Acne Treatment?
Jan 13th 2012, 05:45

Over 17 Million Teens and Adults Suffer From Acne Acne is a very serious problem for many people. Sever acne causes not only embarrassment, but, for some, it can have long term affects on their self esteem and social behavior. The slew of remedies almost count higher than the millions suffering from acne. That’s why it has been so difficult for many people to get any real results. One common course many acne-sufferers take is to look towards nature. Nature offers various benefits in the form of vitamins, minerals, fruits, vegetables and many other things. But, it is really good to know the effectiveness of egg whites in treating acne. Many home remedies can offer at least some relief from the burden of acne. Egg whites have been known to help shrink large pores when applied in a topical concoction. But what happens when these home remedies are coupled with research and science? The Power of the Whole Egg Harnassed Egg whites are normally rich in proteins and can be used as a mask to heal, cure and rebuild your skin. They are also useful in absorbing excess oil from the skin and can be used as a mild astringent. However, like many home remedies it falls short of being a real cure for acne. It is on the right track but is only a piece of the puzzle. Recent science has taken an optimistic look at this home cure and ran with it. Combining salicylic acid (a common acne fighting chemical), with the hydrating, protein rich whole egg, science has created a new break through acne fighting blend. Are There Products on the Market? Many companies have began developing products to utilize this innovate acne fighting idea, competing with the biggest acne fighter on the market – Proactive. With the discovery so new there aren’t a lot of products that have hit the market. The best product on the market right now for this treatment is Etopical Skincare. Etopical also offers a Psoriasis treatment that harnesses the power of egg whites. Acne does not have to rule your world. If you have tried acne cures in the past and been unsuccessful, I suggest taking a serious look into a treatment with egg whites. Skeptics, I suggest searching the internet for home remedies involving eggs (many of these utilize lemon juice as well). Try the home remedies – most likely there will be some improvement. Equally as likely, it will not be completely satisfactory. Then let science fill in the rest. Note: Use common sense when researching remedies online. If something seems dangerous to use on your skin it probably is.

Beijing Boldness
A Tour of the Great Wall of China
Jan 13th 2012, 08:38

The Great Wall of China is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. The earliest sections of the Walls were built between 220-206 BC buy the very first Emperor of China. Most of what we see today though was built during the Ming Dynasty which lasted from 1368 to 1644. In total the wall stretches for a colossal 5,500.3 miles. It’s not surprising then that the wall has become such a tourist attraction. For any holiday to China a trip to the Great Wall is a must. There are a number of different tours of the wall taking in different sections. One of the most popular is the tour from Beijing which allows you to walk along this historic landmark while also getting to enjoy the delights that the capital has to offer. While the wall exudes a timeless charm about it the surrounding scenery changes with the seasons. Visiting at different times of the year will give you a very different experience. In spring the Great Wall will be surrounded by the newly green trees and plants with the extra advantage of having far less tourist you see in the Summer and Autumn months. During the summer months flowers burst into bloom and leaves cover the mountains as the Great Wall meanderings its way through the lush undergrowth like a silver dragon. During the Autumn months the mountains become a patch work or oranges, gold’s, browns and amber creating some stunning views. Another bonus is the weather as you can escape the heat of the summer while avoiding the cold of the winter. During the winter the mountains and even the wall itself becomes covered in snow making for a very pretty scene. On the downside the weather will be cold but you will have fewer people to share the wall with. With the Great Wall just a number of amazing sights to see in China a tour of the country will probably be your best option. This way you will be able to take in the awe inspiring sight of the wall as well as many of the other highlight this fascinating country has to offer.
